Facing the fact of weddings being completely changed for the year I wasn't sure which direction to bring my photography until the next wedding season. I really had to dig deep this year and see where my photography passions really lied. As my Pet Photography was beginning to take off (woot woot! I love your puppers!) a lot of those sessions included entire families. I think not having a lot of family sessions in the past, only family interactions on a wedding day, I wasn't sure if I really loved it or not. It was sessions like these, with The Henry's, where I really started to fall in love with ALL aspects of family photography.
I never want "photography" to feel like a skill that you can bring into everything. A LOT of my our job is interacting with humans; making people feel comfortable and allowing them to feel themselves.
Knowing that those interactions with your little kiddos was something that was SO much fun to me was a big wake up call as an artist. Having this little guy chase me around created the best in-action, excited faces I wanted his parents to have in a photo! Learning the flow and energy of a family was beautiful. And even a step further, understanding each of them as individuals was really something I loved. Needless to say BRING YOUR FAMILIES TO YOUR SESSIONS! This summer was a beautiful experience for me and since then I have and the best time with your families.
