Update April 29, 2020
The reality is I miss shooting weddings and since I won't be able to be at one for a while with COVID going on I have decided to go back into some passion projects I am so proud of and giving them an updated twist with my style of editing I use now. Here is the original post with NEW edits! And dang it, I am so proud and happy with the outcome. I hope you like them!
Being a huge fan of Disney and a huge fan of documenting weddings I wanted to bring my two passions together! It all started when I met our beautiful red-haired model for a winter session this year. She was the perfect portrayal of the Disney Princess Merida. I swear! That was the first thought I had looking at her. And the more I got to thinking the more I wanted to create her into Merida from Brave for a session. But could I make this a bridal look? For the Disney story is about a woman who "don't need no man."
A story about a woman who doesn't need a man in order to take her position as Queen. As her suitors come to win her hand over in marriage she out smarts them all to take her own hand in marriage. It's a great story about women empowerment from motherhood to being a daughter in a Scottish medieval town where men are the masculine muscle protectors, and women raise the children. I think Disney portrayed women as strong, independent, beautiful, and smart in a time back when women weren't necessarily seen that way.
When bringing together this wedding it was important to highlight our bride in the same way Merida came into her womanhood: strong and fierce... and did I mention a genius at archery. It was the perfect fit! With my services covering WONDER WOMEN SESSIONS and having this storyline of an independent woman it was the perfect recipe for this shoot to portray my passions of Disney and Bridal!
TA DA! Here is the amazing team that brought my vision to life, and a link to our publication with Confetti Wedding Magazine. A huge THANK YOU to everyone involved!
